Creating Healthy Lifestyle preparing for life's hurdles and bumps!

Caution Bump in the Road
Most of us that try to shed extra, unwanted pounds don't want them to return again. Creating a healthy lifestyle vs crash diet. Yes, quick results will show up but how long will the pounds stay off. They say, it takes 21 days to develop a habit. For me, it's like 60 days! It takes WORK, there is not quick way!! What tools have you put in place to keep the pounds off when stress and bumps have occurred in our life?
FIRST TOOL: GYM SHOE- MAKE IT A GOAL TO WALK....Anyone can do this. No gym or trainer! Start with 30 minutes a day. Activity can be great on the mind and for stress relief! I now do activity in the morning and in the evening! If you start with activity, I believe the rest will follow! Side Note:This week, I have had some bumps in road In the past, I would have stopped my routine. I struggled a tad but because of the physical activity habit, I kept on MOVING! Our habits and routines are our ARMOR against the disruptions in life!! CAN I HEAR AN AMEN??

U Enjoying moving, enjoying eating colorful, fresh foods, joyous awaiting for the rewards to show. One interesting said customer today to me as I tried on an Alexis Bittar necklace on for him, said "oh, I like this necklace but my wife is much smaller and it only works on a big person". I approached the person's comment as "oh, but I bet she doesn't run 9 miles". Well, neither do I but I strive to! My insides SCREAM, Amy Jo, you are just to fabulous to worry about that person. I'm very proud to make my goals, I am proud that my habits have a positive affect on my beautiful daughter, son and husband. I'm hoping my children will be proud of the accomplishment when I finish the 15K in November, I think it's 10 miles! They have seen how it has taken a daily journey and process!! Every morning, I awake to hurting feet.... hang in there!

I'm loving the WEIGHT WATCHERS Coconut smoothe and I added pineapple! LOVEN' IT!

Keeping my EYE on the PRIZE!

Good week.. Why was it a good week? Well, being prepared help achieved a good week. When family was in a hurry to go to the next event, I prepared food for them to take. Work lunches were already prepared. Workouts were already planned on my agenda. Extra workout clothes were packed in purse! No regrets is my motto! Being prepared helped give me a 3 pound weight loss! I also signed up for a 15K and have been planning for a few weeks, first running a mile, then two, then 3.... then four each week. Well, whatcha know, I got up today to a beautiful sunrise. That was enough to motivate me! I put on my shoes and my hubby said, "I suppose you want me to go?". I said, "no, not really, but you can come!" He says, " Oh, I suppose I can go, if you want me to.." Funny, thing is that I have motivated him to run! I gave up asking and WHALAA! So I check my iphone and today's agenda was 6 miles! I said are you up for that (I didn't know if I was!) yes was the answer. We felt womderful, so we ran 8 miles for me and probably 9 miles for him! Wow, God can really give strength to help accomplish ANYTHING! So 3 pound loss and a big goal for me 8 miles in ONE hour and 25 minutes. Plus, I'm having a great time runny with my hubby!
This picture is taken in Maui, we ran night and day looking at this view! Who wouldn't love running????????

Zumba Routines

What a difference a day off will do!!!

Today, I had an unexpected day off. So, what does any good wife or mother do? Don't tell them! That way I could do my lists of "to dos". It felt so freeing! However, I didn't fool the hubby as I ran out the door, he saw me with my running gear on! He went along with my game and then called me at noon, I was off of work after all! Productive? Yes! I took my son to dr, drop him off at school, folded load of laundry, ran 4 miles, shopping, errands, made chicken pot pie and apple crisp, cleaned out frig, gather can and recycled them, rake the yard, swept the floor all before 4pm! Eating very healthy is more interesting and feels just so fabulous! I made my usual Chicken Pot Pie with Wheat Flour instead of the White Flour. No butter and very little salt. The family gathered 'round the table to eat. Colorful salad that the hub put together, pot pie and apple crisp for dessert. We never have dessert, so our belly's were too full to eat. Maybe after some outside work and football practice. We had great conversation and I told them before we ate, "hey, feel free to compliment the cook, if you like it!" Probably one of the top 10 family dinners this year. NO FIGHTING or arguing!!!!
I FEEL EMPOWERED! I'm very lucky to have a loving family that will put up with "my flavors of the day"! I'm have 11 points left for the day! Hmm gonna enjoy the apple crisp! YUMMY!

Who Wants to RUN for CHOCOLATE?

Sunday, August 19, 2012 Post Image I strapped on my Nike+ monitor watchband and my Iphone Runmeter and I off I went running! What got me fired up again? I just decided to sign up for Chicago's 15K Hot Chocolate Race! So today, I ran 2.5 with speed as my goal 8:40 a mile and 2 miles with 10:58 per mile! I haven't seen a 9 minute mile since 2 years ago before my foot surgery! BTW: who wouldn't want to race with CHOCOLATE and a CUTE HOODIE! I created a fundraising page for Ronald McDonald House, when your little one is sick no parent should have to worry about a place to stay! If you feel a nudge to donate, please do so here. https://ramracing.racebx.com/fundraising/view/5033881e-3640-4bb1-9e9d-6acbc0a8651f
